Non-Ferrous Metals do not contain iron and are not composed of iron. There is a very large variety of Non-Ferrous metals and they are usually more valuable than Ferrous Metals. Ferrous metals can be materials such as aluminum or brass, or even as well known as gold and silver. These metals can provide strength, but also have the differentiating characteristic that they are malleable.
What’s the Difference Between Non-Ferrous and Ferrous Metals?
One of the main differences between non-ferrous and ferrous metals is the weight. Metals such as aluminum and other non-ferrous materials are significantly lighter than traditional ferrous materials. These metals are very well-suited for use where strength is necessary. They are not magnetic and typically highly used materials. Non-ferrous materials are the 3rd most recycled material out there, and this is where we see their similarity to the ferrous scrap materials. Due to the recyclability of either of these two materials, they are all very important to the local scrap industry.
